The book entitled “The Relevance of The Ideas of Swami Vivekananda in International Relations : India’s Foreign Policy As A Case Study “ has tried to bring out how Swami Vivekananda visualized the role of Vedanta in the course of decision-making regarding foreign affairs. This dissertation is a study on Swamiji’s views regarding the problems plaguing us in regard to inter-state relations. The author has tried to point out the connection as well as the contradiction between the ideas of Swami Vivekananda and the political leaders of the modern age. Under these circumstances the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and the ways and means he focused on to solve this recent problems India is facing will be highlighted. This post-doctoral dissertation is the third in the series of the conceptualized eight volumes of a research encyclopedia on the ideas of Swami Vivekananda which has close relations with different branches of Social Sciences. The present post-doctoral dissertation tried to find out what solution could emerge to the acute problems we are facing off-late in the arena of international relations.

The ideas of the revolutionary Vedantic monk can still guide the Statesmen of the modern times and the insecurity in the field of relations amongst different religious communities is also dealt with a rational approach. Vivekananda was fully aware about the need of fraternity amongst different races of the human beings and accepted the Vedantic concept of the universal oneness of the humanity irrespective of its inherent diversities.  He clearly understood the divinity in man and tried to make us feel the need to realize the manifestation of the divinity already in us which in its turn can reduce the conflictual view of international relations. An attempt has been made in this book to restore the much needed human face in the study of International relations. The book has tried to reaffirm the importance of spiritual realization at the time of making policy decisions in international relations.
